SCRIPTURE

"Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of Jehovah unto Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, the prophet, saying," — Zechariah 1:7 (ASV)

Sebat. The eleventh month. The names of the months, which occur in Zechariah, Esther, and Nehemiah, are of Assyrio-Babylonian origin; they are in use among the Jews to this day.

Came the word of the Lord ... saying. This expression is suitably used here of the nocturnal visions, because their substance was a Divine revelation, and because the means by which their meaning was conveyed to the prophet was the angel speaking to him the word of the Lord.

FIRST VISION: THE HORSEMAN AMONG THE MYRTLES.
