SCRIPTURE

"And it shall come to pass in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the eastern sea, and half of them toward the western sea: in summer and in winter shall it be." — Zechariah 14:8 (ASV)

Living waters. —The symbol of Divine knowledge and spiritual vitality (Joel 3:18; Ezekiel 47:1 and following).

Former. —Or front, that is, eastern (as noted in the margin)—meaning the Dead Sea.

Hinder. That is, western, meaning the Mediterranean. These boundaries denote the whole of the Holy Land.

In summer and in winter. —The stream will be perennial, not drying up in summer, as the Eastern wadis do.
