Charles Ellicott Commentary
"And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against Jehovah; and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as dung." — Zephaniah 1:17 (ASV)
Walk like blind men. — that is, groping about in imagined insecurity. The metaphor is taken from Deuteronomy 28:29. Their blood shall be poured out as recklessly as dust, and their flesh cast aside like the vilest refuse. Compare the sentence on Jehoiakim (Jeremiah 22:19): He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, etc.
