SCRIPTURE

"I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, wherewith they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border." — Zephaniah 2:8 (ASV)

Reproach.i.e., abusive speech, or offensive design expressed in words. Balak’s appeal to Balaam, Come, curse me this people, at once suggests itself. We may instance also the conspiracy described in Psalm 83 as illustrating this combination of Moab and Ammon for hostile purposes.
