SCRIPTURE

"I said, Only fear thou me; receive correction; so her dwelling shall not be cut off, [according to] all that I have appointed concerning her: but they rose early and corrupted all their doings." — Zephaniah 3:7 (ASV)

I said, Surely you will fear me ... —Better, I said, Would you only fear me? would you receive correction? then her dwelling-place would not be destroyed, according to all that I have appointed for them; but they only hastened their infamous doings. Our Savior’s lamentation over Jerusalem in Matthew 23:37 naturally suggests itself.

All that I have appointedi.e., in the way of punishment.
