SCRIPTURE

"And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of Jehovah came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart." — 1 Chronicles 15:29 (ASV)

I have seen it happen when a rich person is converted and, in the first hush of his Christian joy, is found mixing with the poorest of fellow believers, full of delight, while someone of his own rank sneers at him. Yet Michal was less honourable than David, though she thought so much of herself.

God forbid that we should ever be ashamed to show enthusiasm, even with the poorest of God's saints, while we are glorifying the Lord! Let Michal sneer, if she will; it matters little what she does. We will only reply as David did, I will yet be more vile than thus.
