Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were you baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;

They were such a quarrelsome set of people that he could not have taken any comfort from having baptized them.

He was glad that they could not quote his name as having done so, as this might have added still more to their division and strife.
