Charles Spurgeon Commentary 1 Corinthians 1:22-24

"Seeing that Jews ask for signs, and Greeks seek after wisdom: but we preach Christ crucified, unto Jews a stumblingblock, and unto Gentiles foolishness; but unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God." — 1 Corinthians 1:22-24 (ASV)

And the Greeks seek after wisdom: but we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; but unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

Beloved, you know how true this is. It has been a wonderful power in you, and this day it is the only wisdom which you desire to possess.
