Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"For since by man [came] death, by man [came] also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive." — 1 Corinthians 15:21-22 (ASV)
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even in Christ shall all be made alive.
Not that all shall be saved, but all will be raised from the dead.
Or else the passage means that, as all who were in the first Adam died as the result of Adam's sin, so all who are in the second Adam, that is, Christ, shall live as the result of his righteousness. The question is, Are we in the second Adam? Faith is what unites us to Christ. If we are trusting in him by a living faith, then his rising from the dead ensures our rising from the dead; and if not, it is true that we shall rise, but it will be to shame and everlasting contempt.
