"Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another." — 1 John 4:10-11 (ASV)

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

As God so loved us when there was nothing lovable about us, and so loved us as to give his only-begotten Son to save us, we ought also to love one another.
