"For hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye should follow his steps:" — 1 Peter 2:21 (ASV)

For even hereunto were ye called-

Called to do right, and to suffer for it! Ah me, what a call is that!

For even hereunto were ye called:

Called, you see, to be buffeted when you don't deserve it.
