SCRIPTURE

"But let us, since we are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation. For God appointed us not into wrath, but unto the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him." — 1 Thessalonians 5:8-10 (ASV)

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

This seems to be a theme which the apostle constantly brings up, as though he could not help it: that we are to live together with Christ. There lies your safety, brethren: "together with him." If you could get away from him, you would go down to destruction; but "together with him" is the path of life, and safety, and perfection.
