Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the histories of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, after the manner of genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually. And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead." — 2 Chronicles 12:15-16 (ASV)
Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually. And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.
So they pass away. One generation dies, and another follows.
May God grant that, when we fall asleep, it may not be with the sin of Rehoboam lying upon us, nor may we be succeeded by evil sons; but may we serve God in our day, and be followed by those who will serve him still better! The Lord grant it! Amen.
