SCRIPTURE

"We are ambassadors therefore on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beseech [you] on behalf of Christ, be ye reconciled to God." — 2 Corinthians 5:20 (ASV)

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be you reconciled to God.

As if Christ himself stood here, and pleaded with you, he instructs his ministers to plead on his behalf. In the name of God, he instructs us to implore you to be reconciled to God. Ambassadors do not generally implore people; they stand on their dignity and make demands for the honor of their sovereign; but Christ's ambassadors know of no dignity that should keep them from pleading with people.
