Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto Jehovah, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. And he led them to Samaria." — 2 Kings 6:18-19 (ASV)
In all this—though I grant you it seems like a stratagem—Elisha spoke neither more nor less than the truth. Dothan was not his city; Samaria was the city where the man of God lived.
He was then outside Dothan, and he said, I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. He did lead them to him, took them to his own home, to the very place where he lived. I think I see him leading all these blind men; they had come to catch him, and he had caught them, and he led them to Samaria.
