Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave [them] their land for an inheritance, for about four hundred and fifty years:" — Acts 13:19 (ASV)
And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he divided their land to them by lot.
The Lord did not go back on His covenant. He promised them a land flowing with milk and honey, and He gave it to them, even though seven nations had to be destroyed to make room for them.
This verse reminds us of that passage in Isaiah: since you were precious in my sight, you have been honourable, and I have loved you: therefore I will give men for you, and people for your life. He gave seven nations of Canaan for this one nation of Israel.
