Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"Now the passage of the Scripture which he was reading was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before his shearer is dumb, So he openeth not his mouth: In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: His generation who shall declare? For his life is taken from the earth. And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other? And Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture, preached unto him Jesus." — Acts 8:32-35 (ASV)
The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so he did not open his mouth: in his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation?
for his life is taken from the earth. And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I ask you, about whom does the prophet say this? Of himself, or of some other man? Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached Jesus to him.
It seems that, wherever Philip went, he had only one subject.
When he went down to the city of Samaria, he preached Christ to them; and now that he talks to this Ethiopian eunuch, he preaches Jesus to him.
