Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have toward all the saints, because of the hope which is laid up for you in the heavens, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel," — Colossians 1:4-5 (ASV)
And of the love which you have to all the saints, for the hope which is, laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
"Faith" – "love" – "hope" – these are three divine sisters, which should always go hand in hand. We must never be satisfied unless we see in ourselves and in our fellow-Christians these three delightful fruits of the Spirit of God. Notice the order here—faith, and love, and then hope. Perhaps the Colossians were a little deficient in this last grace, so the apostle prayed constantly for them, for the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel.
