Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"that their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, [even] Christ, in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden." — Colossians 2:2-3 (ASV)
That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ.
In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. He wanted them to know God, and to rest comforted and happy in what he revealed. He saw in them a tendency to look elsewhere for something more than that, a desire to tack something else on to the gospel, a wish to try and find some fresh light outside the Word, and he greatly grieved over this. He himself was more than satisfied with the gospel, and he wanted them to be, in that respect, as he was.
