Lie not one to another,
In Paul's day, lying was often considered a virtue unless the liar was discovered; in that case, it was deemed wrong. But to lie persistently, and so skillfully as to deceive, was regarded by many in the East as an accomplishment of which they could be proud. So the apostle might well write, Lie not one to another.
