Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual [hosts] of wickedness in the heavenly [places]." — Ephesians 6:12 (ASV)
But against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12).
Our battle is against evil wherever it is to be found, against evil in every shape and form. Evil is as much in the world today as it was in Paul's time, and we must fight against it everywhere. We are not to shut our eyes to it, or try to patch up a compromise with it.
Christians are bound to fight against evil principalities, evil powers, the evil rulers of the darkness of this world, and wicked spirits in high places.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,
Our great fight is not against our fellow-men. As Christians, we do not go forth armed with sword and shield to fight against "flesh and blood,".
