Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness," — Ephesians 6:14 (ASV)
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,
Let this girdle of the everlasting truth of God brace you up. Let it tighten all the rest of your armor.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,
Nothing will so effectively tighten up your garments and keep them right as a girdle of sincerity and truthfulness. If we are not true, whatever else we are, we are only loosely arrayed. We will encounter trouble.
Having your loins girt about with truth.
And having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Let your heart be guarded by the knowledge that you are right with God – that you love that which is holy and true. Put on the righteousness of Christ himself as the best possible protection for your heart.
And having on the breastplate of righteousness;
A grand protection when God has given you to be holy, and when the principle which covers your heart and shields your members is righteousness.
