SCRIPTURE

"Who is like unto thee, O Jehovah, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders? Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, The earth swallowed them. Thou in thy lovingkindness hast led the people that thou hast redeemed: Thou hast guided them in thy strength to thy holy habitation." — Exodus 15:11-13 (ASV)

Who is like to you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? You stretched out your right hand, the earth swallowed them. You in your mercy have led forth the people which you have redeemed: you have guided them in your strength to your holy habitation.

The song becomes prophetic. All joy becomes prophetic; at least, the joy of earth once it is touched with the live coal from the heavenly altar. We begin to praise God "for all the grace we have not tasted yet," as Israel here does. They praise the Lord for leading his people through the wilderness, and bringing them to his holy habitation, even while they are only at the beginning of their journey.
