Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground." — Exodus 3:5 (ASV)
And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off your shoes from off your feet, for the place whereon you stand is holy ground.
Stand as a servant stands in the presence of his master in the East. He is not expected to wear in the court of his master the shoes which have trodden in the mire of the world. Now, put off your cares, put off your carnal thoughts, put off yourself, put off your sin. When God is near, solemnity and deep reverence become us. The place whereon you stand is holy ground.
