Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"Nor for your sake do I [this], saith the Lord Jehovah, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your ways, O house of Israel." — Ezekiel 36:32 (ASV)
Not for your sakes do I this, saith the LORD GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.
No one is saved for their own sake; no one is redeemed for their own sake. It is for God's own glory's sake. There is no motive so high, there is none so worthy of God, as the making known to all generations and all realms the majesty of his love, and the faithfulness of his covenant.
Not for your sakes do I this, saith the LORD GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.
The covenant is all of grace, you see; mercy is shown to the unworthy—not for their own sakes, but for God's own glory's sake.
Oh, how sweet it is to have a share in this blessed covenant!
