Charles Spurgeon Commentary Genesis 32:14-16

"two hundred she-goats and twenty he-goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams, thirty milch camels and their colts, forty cows and ten bulls, twenty she-asses and ten foals. And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by itself, and said unto his servants, Pass over before me, and put a space betwixt drove and drove." — Genesis 32:14-16 (ASV)

Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams, Thirty milch camels with their colts, forty kine, and ten bulls, twenty she asses, and ten foals. And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by themselves; and said unto His servants, Pass over before me, and put a space betwixt drove and drove.

In order that his brother might have time to look at the present in detail, see it piece by piece, and so be more struck by its size. This was true Eastern policy, and crafty Jacob always had more than enough of scheming and planning, even when it was not done with wisdom; but, in this case, I think it was a wise arrangement, for which he is to be commended.
