Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me." — Genesis 32:26 (ASV)
And he said, let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
Bravely said, O Jacob! And you sons of Jacob, learn to say the same. You may have what you will if you can speak thus to the covenant angel, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
It is evident that, as soon as he felt that he must fall, he grasped the other "Man" with a kind of death-grip, and would not let him go.
Now, in his weakness, he will prevail. While he was so strong, he did not win the blessing; but when he became utter weakness, then did he conquer.
And he said, Let me go, for the day breaks. And he said, I will not let you go, except you bless me.
That was grandly spoken.
