"and there will I nourish thee; for there are yet five years of famine; lest thou come to poverty, thou, and thy household, and all that thou hast. And, behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth that speaketh unto you. And ye shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that ye have seen: and ye shall haste and bring down my father hither." — Genesis 45:11-13 (ASV)
And there I will nourish you; for there are still five years of famine; lest you, and your household, and all that you have, come to poverty. And, behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth that speaks to you. And you shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that you have seen; and you shall hurry and bring down my father here.
Love is impatient to have the object of its affection brought near.
Now we will read two short portions out of the Song of Solomon, from which you will see how love always craves nearness to the loved one. The Song opens thus:
