Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways. Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith Jehovah." — Haggai 1:7-8 (ASV)
Thus says the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, says the LORD.
That should be the great objective we aim for in all we do, that God may be glorified—that God may take pleasure in it. It does not matter who we please if God is not pleased, nor who receives honour from what we give, if God is not glorified by it.
