Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"For both he that sanctifieth and they that are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren," — Hebrews 2:11 (ASV)
For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one:
One family; one by nature with Christ our glorious Head.
For which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
Does this not very sweetly reveal to you the close relationship of Christ to his people? He has assumed their nature, and He acknowledges it by calling them brethren.
For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one:
He who sets them apart and they who are set apart are all of one. They are of one nature, and they have one destiny before them.
For which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,–
Oh, this blessed condescension of Christ! We are often ashamed of ourselves; alas! we are sometimes so base as to be ashamed of him; but he is never ashamed to call us brethren.
