Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"For we who have believed do enter into that rest; even as he hath said, As I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world." — Hebrews 4:3 (ASV)
For we which have believed do enter into rest.
Faith brings us into this rest, even as unbelief shut them out.
As he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
That is God's rest, the rest of a finished work, and into that rest many never enter. The work by which they might live forever, the finished work by which they might be saved, they refuse, and so they never enter into God's rest.
For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
I leave out the intermediate words for the time being. "There is a rest."
