SCRIPTURE

"And no man taketh the honor unto himself, but when he is called of God, even as was Aaron. So Christ also glorified not himself to be made a high priest, but he that spake unto him, Thou art my Son, This day have I begotten thee:" — Hebrews 5:4-5 (ASV)

And no man takes this honour to himself, but he who is called of God, as was Aaron. So also Christ glorified not himself to be made a high priest; but He who said to him, Thou art my Son, today have I begotten thee.

The text is quoted from Psalm 2:7, and it proves that Christ did not arrogate to himself any position before God. He is God's Son, not merely because He calls Himself so, but because the Father says, Thou art my Son, today have I begotten thee. He did not take this honour upon himself, but He was called of God, as was Aaron.
