Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"Therefore will I take back my grain in the time thereof, and my new wine in the season thereof, and will pluck away my wool and my flax which should have covered her nakedness. And now will I uncover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of my hand. I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feasts, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn assemblies." — Hosea 2:9-11 (ASV)
Therefore I will return, and take away my corn in its time, and my wine in its season, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness. And now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and no one shall deliver her out of my hand. I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.
There is no more merriment now; the old songs have lost their sweetness, and the old games have lost their charm.
