Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"Sheol from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming; it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. All they shall answer and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?" — Isaiah 14:9-10 (ASV)
It is a fine pictorial representation of the spirits of departed kings lifting themselves up from their beds of dust, and saying, "Are you, king of Babylon, that killed us, also come here? The mighty conqueror, are you yourself conquered, and brought to the grave?"
