"I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil. I am Jehovah, that doeth all these things." — Isaiah 45:7 (ASV)

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil. I the LORD do all these things.

Cyrus was a believer in two gods, – one the god of light, and the other the god of darkness. Hence this declaration from God's servant, the prophet, that there was no prince of darkness who was a god, but that all things were made by the one Most High God.

There are not two distinct principles that are omnipotent; and though God is not the Author of moral evil, yet whatever there is of evil, which causes us pain and loss, is under His control. There are not two gods, but only one living and true God.
