Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"and the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away." — James 1:10 (ASV)
But the rich, in that he is made low:
Hard work this! Still, the child of God should rejoice in it, for now that he is stripped of earthly things, he finds his all in God.
But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away (James 1:10).
Let him not therefore rely on his wealth as if it were anything other than a trust and a burden entrusted to him, for he will have to leave it, and he himself, as the flower of the grass, shall pass away. Let him rejoice to get down to the Rock of Ages; let him take hold of eternal things as if he had nothing else in which he could trust.
