SCRIPTURE

"For the shepherds are become brutish, and have not inquired of Jehovah: therefore they have not prospered, and all their flocks are scattered. The voice of tidings, behold, it cometh, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a dwelling-place of jackals." — Jeremiah 10:21-22 (ASV)

For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the Lord: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered. Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, – (Jeremiah 10:21–22)

"Bruit" is an old Norman word; one wonders how it got in here.

It might be rendered, "The noise of the tumult is come," –
