"For death is come up into our windows, it is entered into our palaces; to cut off the children from without, [and] the young men from the streets." — Jeremiah 9:21 (ASV)

And is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets.

Generally, in war, they spare the children; and they carry the young men away as captives. The Chaldeans were cruel; they killed the little ones, and they killed the young men.
