SCRIPTURE

"Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; For the hand of God hath touched me." — Job 19:21 (ASV)

How pitiful it is that he has so to beg for sympathy! This strong man—this most patient man—this perfect and upright man before God has to ask for sympathy. Do you wonder that it was so?

HE, who was far greater than Job, ran back three times to his sleeping disciples as if he needed some help from them, but he did not find it, for he had to say to them, "What, could ye not watch with me one hour?" Let this be a lesson to us to try and possess bowels of compassion towards those who are in sorrow and distress.
