SCRIPTURE

"For God hath made my heart faint, And the Almighty hath terrified me;" — Job 23:16 (ASV)

For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me:

Are you saying that tonight? If so, I am glad you are here.

For many years, I have been surrounded by a large number of people who come from all parts of England and Scotland, and from even farther distances, in despair of soul and seeking comfort. But I think that never in my life have I encountered more such individuals than this week—people previously unknown to me, who are under conviction of sin and feeling the heavy hand of God upon them.

Hard struggles have I had to bring them out of Giant Despair's Castle. The Holy Spirit alone can do this work, but He sometimes uses a sympathetic, brotherly word to give light to those who are in darkness.

I am praying that He may do so tonight, for there may be some here who say with Job, God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me.
