"And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth." — John 1:14 (ASV)
Beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Oh, all you who would know Christ, learn that he is worth the knowing! He is full of grace for your sinfulness, and full of truth for your ignorance. He can cleanse and he can teach; there is everything in him that you need. You shall not be deceived, for he is full of truth; you shall not be rejected, for he is full of grace.
And the Word was made flesh,
Here was the incarnation of him who made all things. He who is God was made flesh.
And dwelt among us, (and we –
The apostles –
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Those who saw Christ on earth were highly privileged; but it is a spiritual sight of him alone that is to be desired, and we can have that even now.
How full of grace, how full of truth, he is to all those who are privileged to behold him!
