SCRIPTURE

"And it was the feast of the dedication at Jerusalem: it was winter; and Jesus was walking in the temple in Solomon`s porch. The Jews therefore came round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou hold us in suspense? If thou art the Christ, tell us plainly. Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believe not: the works that I do in my Father`s name, these bear witness of me. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep." — John 10:22-26 (ASV)

And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.

Then came the Jesus round about him, and said to him, How long do you make us doubt? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.

Jesus answered them, I told you, and you did not believe: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. But you do not believe, because you are not of my sheep, as I said to you.

"You are not my chosen people; there has been no work of grace in your hearts, and therefore you do not believe." What a brave way that was of putting the truth. Some would have said, "Because you do not believe, you are not my sheep;" but Jesus puts it the other way, "Because you are not my sheep, therefore you do not believe."
