SCRIPTURE

"Jesus therefore said unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them." — John 10:7-8 (ASV)

Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.

There were many false christs who rose up before Jesus Christ appeared, and there were many persons who followed those false christs, but the sheep did not hear them. They still waited with holy Anna, with patient Simeon, and the rest of the faithful who waited for the appearing of the true Shepherd, and were not misled by the pretenders who were only thieves and robbers.
