SCRIPTURE

"In my Father`s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also." — John 14:2-3 (ASV)

I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you, to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

Jesus often keeps this promise in many senses. By his gracious spirit, he has come again; by his divine presence in the means of grace, he often comes again.

Eventually, if we die, he will come again to meet us; and if we do not die, then the promise will be fulfilled to the greatest possible extent, for Jesus will come again and, in his own person, receive those who are alive and remain to his coming.

Regardless, I will come again, and receive you to Myself, remains one of the sweetest promises that was ever given to believers by the Lord Jesus Christ.

He did not say, "I will receive you to heaven;" he promised something far better than that: I will receive you to Myself. Oh, what bliss it will be to get to Christ, to be with him forever and ever!
