SCRIPTURE

"They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you shall think that he offereth service unto God. And these things will they do, because they have not known the Father, nor me. But these things have I spoken unto you, that when their hour is come, ye may remember them, how that I told you. And these things I said not unto you from the beginning, because I was with you." — John 16:2-4 (ASV)

They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father nor me. But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them.

When you meet with rebuke, and slander, and jesting, and jeering against you for Christ's sake, he has told you of them.

"Temptation or pain – he has told you no less;
The heirs of salvation, you know from his word,
Through much tribulation must follow their Lord."
