SCRIPTURE

"The maid therefore that kept the door saith unto Peter, Art thou also [one] of this man`s disciples? He saith, I am not." — John 18:17 (ASV)

Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not.

As, Peter! Ah, myself! If anyone is trusting in himself, he may soon utter a falsehood concerning his Lord, as Peter did. Keep us, O God, by your grace, or else it will be so with us. It was nothing but a poor maidservant that cowed this brave Peter; the man whose sword was drawn just now in his Master's defense is not able truthfully to answer the maid's question, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not.
