Charles Spurgeon Commentary John 20:30-31

"Many other signs therefore did Jesus in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book: but these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye may have life in his name." — John 20:30-31 (ASV)

And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God; and that believing you might have life through his name.

God grant that the object of writing the New Testament may be answered in each one of us.

Now, dear friends, has the purpose, for which this Book was written, been answered in your case? Have you been led to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and so to believe that you have life through his name? If not, why not? May you have grace to answer that question, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake! Amen.
