Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter a second time into his mother`s womb, and be born?" — John 3:3-4 (ASV)
Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus says to him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?
Staggering at the symbol, he stumbled at the letter of Christ's saying, and did not perceive its inward sense.
