Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. For his disciples were gone away into the city to buy food." — John 4:7-8 (ASV)
There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
Or, "food."
Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
Or else they might have drawn water from the well to refresh him.
