Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I came forth and am come from God; for neither have I come of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? [Even] because ye cannot hear my word." — John 8:42-43 (ASV)
For I proceeded forth and came from God; neither did I come of myself, but he sent me. Why do you not understand my speech? Even because you cannot hear my word.
"You are dull of comprehension, you are hardened in heart, you are proud in spirit, you are just the opposite of everything that is good, and therefore you cannot hear my word," says Christ, "and this is proof positive that you do not love God, and that you are not the children of God."
